FIRST is a program that is all about motivating students to be involved in the rapidly changing world of science and technology. Founded by Dean Kamen in 1989, FIRST now reaches out to over 1,750 teams and 200,000 students. This program stresses Gracious Professionalism, the idea that "encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community."
